Eulogies Pour In for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt ready to share openly about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can finally express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started spending more time together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the production, commenting that he cannot recall "a single day without joy".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I recall you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with everyone, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge agreed to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the local authorities.
A court order placed a security hold on the files to restrict the public release of "related notes, evidence and photographs" associated with the active case.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a record citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
Following the tragedy, public personalities shared varying comments.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing controversial claims that were met with immediate backlash by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the critics last week. Conversing on his show, Rogan described the statements as "shocking" and implied they revealed a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan finished by suggesting that an aide should have stepped in when the choice to speak on the passing was made.
